Today, under the leadership of Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji, Honourable Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Nigeria signed a landmark Memorandum of Agreement with Shanghai Haiqi Industrial Company Ltd. (China) for the sustainable local production of insulin.
For decades, millions of Nigerians living with diabetes have depended on costly imports of insulin, often with limited availability. This agreement changes everything. For the first time in Nigeria—and possibly in Africa—we will produce insulin locally to meet national and regional needs.
